Egyptian Actor Mohamed El-Tajy Dies at 72 After Health Crisis

Egyptian actor Mohamed El-Tajy has died at the age of 72 following a health crisis, Egyptian Actors’ Syndicate President Ashraf Zaki announced.

Zaki said the funeral for the late actor will be held on Monday at Al-Thawra Mosque in Nasr City, Cairo.

El-Tajy had recently undergone major surgery after suffering severe spinal pain that affected his ability to walk normally and caused significant difficulty with movement. Medical examinations subsequently led to abdominal surgery to remove several fatty masses.

The actor had previously undergone abdominal surgery to treat a hernia, preceded by three consecutive operations, which reportedly took a toll on his overall health.

Born in Cairo on April 28, 1954, Mohamed El-Tajy was the grandson of veteran Egyptian actor Abdel Warith Asar. Throughout his career, he appeared in dozens of films, television series and theatrical productions, earning recognition for a wide range of supporting and prominent roles.

His notable credits include the play “Al-Motazawegoun” (The Married Couple) with Samir Ghanem and Sherine, the film “Al-Motarid” (The Fugitive) with Nour El-Sherif and Soheir Ramzy, and the television series “Al-Bashayer” with Mahmoud Abdel Aziz. He also appeared in popular series including “Hadaeq Al-Shaitan,” “Molouk Al-Gad’ana,” “Al-Ajhar,” “Al-Atawla” and “Al-Le’ba.
