Diyala Police Seize 260 Units of Smuggled Medicines Hidden Inside a Cosmeti

Security forces in Iraq’s Diyala province have seized 260 units of foreign medicines smuggled into the country and stored inside a cosmetics shop in the Baladruz district, where the products were allegedly being sold without the required health inspections and regulatory oversight.

In a statement, the Diyala Police Command said the operation was carried out following precise intelligence reports, with the Organized Crime Directorate working alongside local police units to uncover the illegal activity.

Investigations revealed that the shop was being used as a front for trading in smuggled medicines, which had been concealed in a secret storage area at the rear of the premises to avoid detection and generate illicit profits.

The operation resulted in the seizure of 260 units of various human medicines, in the presence of a specialized team from the Diyala Health Directorate. Security personnel also arrested the suspect allegedly involved in the illegal trade, who reportedly admitted to selling the medicines covertly and outside the legal framework.
