Basra Council Calls for Review of Mangrove Plantation Contract Under One Million Trees Project

Zahraa Al-Salmi, head of the Legal and Administrative Reform Committee at the Basra Provincial Council, has called on the provincial administration to provide the documents and records related to the contract for planting mangroves as part of the One Million Trees Project.

In a statement, Al-Salmi said her request followed an appeal raised on social media concerning the project. She noted that she had formally addressed the provincial administration to obtain details of the contract and the procedures taken in relation to it.

She explained that the request aims to conduct a legal and administrative review of the contract’s award and implementation procedures and verify their compliance with applicable laws and regulations, in a manner that protects public funds and serves the public interest.
