Al-Zeidi Calls for Unified Islamic Stance and Greater Economic and Security Integration
Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi received the heads of delegations participating in the 52nd session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation meetings in Baghdad on Saturday, calling for a unified Islamic position and discourse to confront the risks and threats facing the Muslim world.
During the meeting, Al-Zaidi stressed the importance of strengthening ties among Muslim nations and promoting the true image of Islam. He also highlighted the suffering in Gaza as one of the major challenges confronting the Islamic world.
Al-Zaidi noted that Muslim countries possess significant human and natural resources, control around 70% of global energy resources, and have access to important waterways, yet these assets remain underutilised. He called for a joint platform to promote products from Islamic countries, as well as stronger cooperation to combat drug trafficking and protect young people and communities.
He further pointed out that approximately 400 million Muslims are unemployed, emphasising the need for greater labour-market integration and energy security through interconnected energy networks, railways, transportation systems and digital communications, alongside closer cooperation between industrial zones. He added that Iraq launched this initiative at the opening of the organisation's meetings.
