Al-Zaydi Restricts Government Officials’ Media Appearances to Prior Approval

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaydi on Saturday directed that government advisers and officials be barred from making media statements or appearing in the media without prior approval from his office.

According to a copy of the directive, the measure applies to television, radio and print media, and is intended to regulate official statements and ensure greater consistency and unity in the government’s public messaging.

The directive stressed the need for strict compliance to prevent statements or positions that may not accurately reflect the state’s official stance, urging all officials and advisers to adhere fully to the new instructions.
